The rainy week forecast has been pretty much true to form--however, yesterday we saw some sunshine for the whole afternoon! Woohoo! So this is how we took advantage of our sunny afternoon...
We first checked out the new turkey pen our friends constructed for their turkey chicks. They just planted birch branches into the ground, wrapped it with turkey wire, then covered the top with more leafy branches--that the turkeys seem to really dig!
Then I checked out their very light-weight chicken tractor made out of PVC and chicken wire for the broilers and the smaller one for her 3 laying hens--that are great little layers, by the way! I think I know where I'm coming when I'm ready for my perfect chickens!
Karyn's raised beds are also filling in beautifully--and wonderfully low on weeds--very nice feature!
My husband had gone over to our land the day before to peel our new logs--and spent a luxurious evening eating jambalaya over a cook stove and sleeping on the floor of the shed over there. He got 24 logs done that day and needed to finish up the final 14 yesterday--which he did manage to complete by around 7 p.m.--just in time for picnic lasagna and watermelon at our friend's, the Meres! And here's more on his log peeling marathon!
