My hubby earned amazing brownie points with me this weekend! How so? The above-so and below-so...which make me oh SO HAPPY!! He constructed some windowboxes for me out of cedar with live edge on the sides...and left the bark exposed on the bottom. We have this...this...very durable, very practical, very taupe, VERY vinyl ....vinyl...that says it all right there!...siding on this house that really needs some of that thar 'charm' added to it. Could I make that sentence any longer?? Yes, I could...but I stopped myself...just in time....
Yes, so this very vinyl siding needs some rusticin' up...my term...I know what I mean...I hope you do, too! In addition to my 'charm' dilemma, we can't put holes in this vinyl stuff or it'll cause big problems...big...so what to do? Put my lovely rustic windowboxes on cedar posts! That's what! And it's working out great!
So great, in fact, that when I tuck my flowerboxes into bed each night, I can just pull the plastic trash bags up behind the back and over the front. Then I just fasten them down with clothespins. Cool, huh! I thought so...and yes, it's still cold at night here...like down in the 40's! So we have quite the bedtime process these days with bringing in chicks, covering the bunny cage, moving the pony into her pen, tucking in the windowboxes, bringing in the seedlings and pots....oh yeah! and putting 4 children to bed! Lest we forget! ; )
Here's the little short squatty one we put at the front under the 'stop sign' window. Isn't he cute?? He doesn't need those big jumbo trash bags to tuck him in at night...just the small plastic grocery bags work fine for dis leetle one! : )
And here's the one under my bedroom window. I even saw a hummingbird fly up to that tall pink geranium this morning just as I was waking up...drinking my coffee! Now that's the way to wake up...to windowboxes full of flowers (minus the trashbags) and tiny hummingbirds! : D
