Would you mind just handing me that dust pan over there? Yep, that one...just don't trip over Mt. Everest...I mean, Oh the laundry...that's what that is on the living room floor! What was that?...my socks stick there, too. It's gross...I know...
As tried-and-true, no-more-excuses motivation to get my Spring Cleaning underway in earnest, I'm going to let you help me! Since I'm sure you're all swinging the feather dusters...does anyone own feather dusters anymore?...OK (lime green) synthetic fur dusters, wielding mops and brooms, sorting through clothes, toys, books, and junk you just knew you should've gotten rid of years ago...you probably don't have time to come to my neck of the woods and start cleaning my house, too!
But cleaning does love company...and I'm sure that's why people joined Shaker communes...who wouldn't risk celibacy to have things that stark and clean and organized all the time? And that being the case, then please just let me know that I'm not the ONLY one swinging the brooms and dusters this week! Deal? Deal!
I'm starting off with the kid's room upstairs since the avalanche of clothing...which quickly translates into laundry...that despicable dirty word...that just cannot be ignored...even by me...anymore. I bought those white plastic dish tubs at the dollar store last summer that really work great for the top closet shelf. However, even they need some immediate attention!
We took the folding doors off the closet to give more room...in that we have 4 children sharing the loft area...so extra room is key...a very key component for our present quaint abode. And these canvas hanging shelves work well for shirts, leggings, and play dresses. There are still way too many clothes...I know...but I can only eliminate so much pink and pastel...and frou-frou's and ruffles...girls will be girls! And this includes their mother!
I do love seeing all the pretty summer dresses together. Aren't they sweet? I hope my girls always love to wear dresses...unlike their mom who has to have blue jeans...but I am getting better! My daughters are prevailing on me...
As for the unending plethora of plastic and toys, I try to keep stuff that's cute or can be put into baskets out in view. All the rest of it, we sort into plastic buckets that can be slid under the bed out of sight.
The above photo is taken from inside our Fabric Playhouse...which has provided lots of fun for a small space!
So while we're at it, why not some more inspiration for organizing the kiddos and their requisite...and not so requisite...stuff?

Baskets for storage...and more baskets for storage...all cute! I especially love the bushel baskets like the one above...as well as decorating with blankets and quilts! I should do a blog dedicated to that alone...'Decorating with Quilts'... mmmm, lovely!
Here are some fabric-lined bushel baskets...
Aren't the scalloped edges wonderful? What is it about scalloped edges?

These painted squares above are a bright, super-simple solution...and is that sweater adorable or what??!! Another great decor/organizing idea!

We've put these peg racks to use all over our house...we even have a hat like that...only a bit more frayed...or 'weathered' shall we say?

And here's a girlier version...very easily accomplished by hot gluing cloth flowers to its back...another sweetly super-simple idea!
And I love this little set up for children...a ladder with shelves, measurements taken on the side, white painted basket tucks neatly at the bottom...and all fits in nicely with an easel or chalkboard...and of course the blue denim cubed-ottoman is darlin', too! And all from PBK...as you might've guessed!
Here are some more ideas for Corralin' the Clutter!
SO now that we're duly inspired, let's get to cleanin'...it's Spring!
