We made the 2 hour trek to Camden this week--and OH! was it ever so worth it! We were completely surrounded and swallowed up in Spring, Spring, and more Spring!
Spring has certainly sprung in Maine! First we stopped off in Camden proper where I was able to photograph this lovely place all freshly painted and ready for the summertime visitors--I'm a sucker for connected farmhouses and picket fences, too!
Next we went to our friend's house in nearby Rockport where my husband had the desperate, inextingushable urge to climb a really tall tree--and our friend wanted to pay him for it--so I left them here to satisfy all their primal cravings!
This doesn't look so scary...
On second thought, I think I'll just pretend that nothing's going on in the stratospheric natural world above me and look at their lovely tulips instead...
And push my youngest in this really cool wooden swing they have...she has to sit up REALLY straight...but,man! She's lovin' this!
Whee! Do they make these in adult sizes?
I know it's a bit hard to tell here, but she is lovin' this swing, I'm tellin' ya! It keeps those pesky flying insects away, too!
And let's not forget the lovely little trickling stream next to their house...
I'm also blocking out the fact that this lovely trickling stream is spawning the prolific number of black flies presently buzzing around my face--and burrowing into my scalp--and behind my ears--and in my mouth--I'm outta here! (Don't worry about my hubby--black flies don't survive in the stratosphere).
Aaaah! Much better--fresh salt breezes and NO black flies! I've taken the children (less than 10 minutes from our friend's house) to one of our favorite spots--the Children's Chapel--overlooking the ocean beyond. And we've been blessed with a gorgeously clear day!
Just keep on climbin' up...
And when you get to the top...this is what you see...
It's a kind of open-air, gazebo-type structure constructed of native field stones and timbers...
That the children just LOVE...and so does their Romantic Mom..who's constantly asking herself, "now where could I build something like this...?" And here's something else I definitely need in my garden...
Why do I need a huge bell in my garden? Well,...to ring....of course. Moving right along...
He's thinkin' that he'd REALLY like to climb up that tree right there. "That one's so easy I wouldn't even need climbin' gear!" He's already got it all mapped out...He's thinking, "Too bad it's just Mommy here, if it was Daddy, I'd already be up that thing!"
I take that back--my dear son would NEVER have such derogatory thoughts of his exceptionally sweet and perfect-in-every-way mother--I'm serious--not even for one second.
To prove what an exceptionally perfect mother I am, look at his socks--one black, one white. And I let him leave the house like that--'cause he didn't HAVE any other clean socks! And he still loves me....and thinks I'm the greatest....ever....
