Knitting - Crochet - Felting
I learned how to knit from a dear friend of mine, Deb (yes, just like me), the first winter we moved to Maine. She sat me down one evening and said, "Deb, this is easy! You CAN do this!" And so I did. I've been hooked ever since! I made a simple scarf...and I was thrilled! Knitting to me has always been this very elusive, complicated, highly mysterious undertaking that only the very talented and crafty types can master - and I'm far from mastery here! I do it the old-fashioned way (I think it's called the 'English method') but it works for me and I'm happy! Here are some of my Sewing and Knitting Creations!
Here's a nice informational article on cotton yarn comparisons. She's testing for several factors including absorbency, softness, stain resistance, and shrinkage. Looking for tutorials or pattern ideas?

Sewing - Quilting - Needlework
Guess what! I've never, ever made a quilt. But I love quilts! I have some quilts....I love to SLEEP with quilts...I like to decorate with quilts...I love to LOOK at quilts! Does any of this count? How' bout...I would like to learn how to make a quilt! Surely this counts for something!
Well, it counts as far as I'm concerned, so I'm going to start with doll quilts. And I'm going to have my daughters do it with me. They're all excited...I'm quaking with fear. We might survive this--we might not. I know THEY'LL survive it! And, naturally, their's will look much better than mine, too!
For an amazing dose of inspiration for adorable quilts and needlework in the sweetest color combos, I discovered Anna Marie Horner and Turkey Feathers Homecrafts. Just sit back with your beverage du jour and watch the photo galleries--with shots of their gardens thrown in--you'll love it!
