I've been searching for information on how to set up a pantry...not just any pantry mind you. I actually prefer a pantry reminiscent of days gone by...like something my great-grandmother might have set up and kept stocked with fresh veggies from the garden...or that Laura Ingalls Wilder described in her glorious depiction of stacked drawers and bins Almanzo built for her as his new bride.
However, I realize rather ruefully that my old-fashioned ideals are thoroughly tainted with present day depictions of pristine painted cupboards, matching knobs, and dressed up with high-dollar amenities too numerous to detail. As gorgeous and perfect as they are....well...they're just not what...hmmm, how do I put this? They just don't look quite like Grandma's would.
I have come across a few gems, though, that I'm eager to share with you! We'll start with some pretty and romantic ones. Naturally, I can always count on The Inspired Room to come through for me when all others just don't quite get it. Take a look at her Perfect Pantries: Frugal & Stylish Ideas first...oh, and Ree of The Pioneer Woman fame has got a very promising pantry that's landed in her Oklahoma Lodge re-do, too! These will get you in the general mood. Then we can digress into some intriguing books I've found on the topic!
And perhaps I can scrounge up some Shaker pantries as well. They could teach me a thing or two about organization and stringent thriftiness...and so could Marilla Cuthbert for that matter! Oh definitely! I need to dig up all my photos from our tour of Anne of Green Gable's House on Prince Edward Island. But that will all have to wait until tomorrow. I'm off to bed now! Bon nuit! And I'm dreaming of impeccably pretty pantries!
