As Spring and gardening are approaching...even though we still have alot of snow on the ground around us at the moment...we are getting our seeds started anyway. The promise of Spring is in the air!
We've been bringing ourselves up to speed on this whole issue of genetically modified plants, and heirloom seeds, and why all this is really so important. I know, we're probably way behind on the learning curve...or info curve...but we're trying to remedy that right now. So I've posted a few blogs on Green Pioneer (our other site) that tackles more of the details on some pertinent issues concerning our food supply and our ability to homestead, raise our own food and livestock on our own land, just like they did in our grandparent's day. So hop on over and check out these very important topics:
Stop NAIS (National Animal Identification System)
Action Against NAIS
Monsanto Monopoly
Outlawing Organic Farming HR 875
I'll also be gathering more information on local seed banks, wonderful heirloom veggies and grains, and how to begin collecting seeds from our own gardens. And for those of you reveling in Spring weather, daffodils and tulips, enjoy some for us, too!! xxx
